Course Description
This course is to provide a general background of the structure, functions, and powers of government at the national, state, and local levels. Some of the key concepts will be separation of powers, checks and balances, federalism, popular sovereignty, civil liberties, representation, republicanism, and political views. Many of these ideas will be introduced through a brief history of America with an emphasis in how governing officials introduced or carried them out.
